Mission and Objectives

Serving the needs of 29,000 aspiring professionals, performers & leaders

According to the Department of Education, there are currently more than 4,100 college campuses throughout the United States. By contrast, slightly more than 40 institutions worldwide claim the classification of an “All-Steinway School” designation.

The second-largest public university in Utah, with the largest undergraduate population in the state, Utah Valley University is destined to join the cadre of institutions, like Juilliard, Yale, Columbia and the Welsh College of Music, as it nears completion of the requirements to earn the Steinway classification (indicating more than 90 percent of the pianos used by the university are specific models made by Steinway & Sons).

With the completion of funding for the All-Steinway designation, the Department of Music will have implemented Steinway and Steinway-made pianos valued at $1,500,000 into a broad range of music courses and activities, thus establishing a foundation upon which our students can achieve excellence.

As the principal donor for a gift of $300,000, the Nancy Peery Marriott Family Endowment will receive naming rights of the entire piano collection. The final gift will also allow the Marriott family to attain permanent naming rights on an annual endowed scholarship, which will go to a student majoring in piano.
