Marriott Steinway Designation & Scholarships

Establishing world-class education on notes of legendary precision

Perhaps the single distinguishing characteristic that defines a university’s commitment to the communities it serves is in how it embraces the cultural aspects of learning—namely—the Arts, and with whom it associates. UVU is laying the groundwork for a new Center for the Performing Arts. At the foundation of that center will be the university’s designation as an All-Steinway School.

According to legendary piano manufacturer Steinway & Sons, “All-Steinway Schools demonstrate a commitment to excellence by providing their students and faculties with the best equipment possible for the study of music.” Moreover, according to the testimonials of universities and musical institutions that receive the “All-Steinway” designation, the quality of enrollment for music majors—as well as with other arts-related majors—improves dramatically, while also increasing the reputation of those institutions on both a national and international level.

To match the superlative characteristics of the “Steinway” name, the Marriott and Peery family names have frequently been associated with the establishment of exceptional programs in arts education. In partnership with a generous contribution from the Nancy Peery Marriott Family Endowment, Utah Valley University and the School of Arts & Music will attain the designation of an “All-Steinway School” and achieve a significant milestone for the university, as it establishes itself as an international learning institution with impeccable quality and an unmatched passion for education in the arts and music.
